Milestones are important. I started up Monsters After Midnight as a magazine in 2012, I knew it was probably going to be an endeavor with limited success. A lot of the monster / horror genre had already gone online and the interest in classic monsters was a nitch market that was already dominated by magazines like Scary Monsters Mag and Monster Bash. And both are great magazines that I just could not compete with. In addition, there is an entire segment of the genre that is based in film, published material and other web pages that draw millions of readers to their sites. This fact is reflected in the Rondo Awards which honors the horror genre by handing out a huge number of awards to writers, artists, podcaster and film makers. Monsters After Midnight was very proud to be nominated for for a Rondo this year.
We had a few other milestones as well. In 2019 we made the top 100 list of horror blogs and we have been ranked at #36 for many months. We also created our own Classic Monster Awards. Last year we gave away three Monsters After Midnight Classic Monsters Awards in three different categories and we gave one away this years to an awesome monster kid.
